The most difficult aspect was the shape of all the different components and putting them together. The petals in particular were tricky. I had to use several deformers to get the correct shape and put them together, and I made the mesh of the petals themselves by hand. The pot and dirt were fairly easy to do, I layered a texture over a circular plane for the dirt and used basic cylinders and mesh editing tools to construct the pot. The plant I based it on is called a fire lily.
